I am a child of God. I am also a musician (composer, singer, pianist, and choral conductor), music minister, educator and retreat leader. I am a wife, mother, daughter and friend. I love long walks, a good cup of coffee, campfires and road trips.
I grew up in a small Scandinavian Lutheran church in rural MN, learning piano from my grandmother and singing (mostly) Amy Grant’s music with my best friend. Since attending Luther College (Decorah, IA) and earning a BA in vocal music education, I have worked in a variety of settings over the years both teaching music and serving in ministry.
Currently, I serve as music director at a fantastic Lutheran (ELCA) church in West Central MN. In 2022, I received a Master of Arts in Liturgical Music with a composition concentration from Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary (Collegeville, MN).
I love to make music with people of all ages, denominations, and musical abilities. I am passionate about writing music for the church that is both well-crafted and accessible, theologically sound and authentically expressive. I believe the gift of music is a powerful tool for the important work of healing divisions and promoting unity in our world. I find the intersection of music and spirituality to be a profoundly sacred place for creativity, relationship, and ministry; I’d be honored to meet you there.

"Carol's compositions feel both timeless and fresh, both singable and interesting. Her poetry is masterful and speaks to the needs of our Church today. My congregation, cantors, and choir members all enjoy singing and praying with her music."

Liturgist at St. Catherine University
"Carol’s liturgical songs are a natural expression of her close relationship with God. Her texts are poetic and theologically sound, and her musical settings appeal to the heart as well as the mind."
